9th Annual Holiday Trivia Contest Winners

Happy New Year!

Wow!  This year we had 167 correct entries to our "9th Annual Holiday Trivia Contest"!  Ian, Jay, Sheila, and I want to take this opportunity to say "Thank you" to those of you who took the time to participate in our little Holiday trivia contest that we posted to all of you in December.   The trivia question was:

9th ANNUAL HOLIDAY TRIVIA:

During the Mid-19th Century, the Davenport Brothers took the world by storm with their "Spirit Cabinet" act.  During the presentation, William and Ira would allow their hands and feet to be securely(?) tied with rope while they sat on a bench inside of a wooden cabinet.  The doors would then be closed.  Immediately, apparent "spirit manifestations" would begin:  Tambourines would ring, horns would blow, and mysterious hands would be seen through a small window in the front of the cabinet.   However, as soon as the doors were opened, they would both be found to be still securely tied!  Apparently, "the spirits had returned from the dead"!  Later, many magicians would learn some of their basic rope tying techniques, and what was originally an act to "call forth the spirits" would eventually  evolve into the escape act.  In fact, before he died, Ira would pass on some of his secrets to none other than the Great Houdini.

TRIVIA QUESTION:

What was the position that the Davenport Brothers sat - relative to each other - while rope tied within the Spirit Cabinet?

There were MANY responses, most of them correct.  The correct answer was (A)  Facing each other, profile to the audience.

As stated in the contest rules, all of the correct entries ((A)  Facing each other, profile to the audience or similar) were placed in a basket and the three winners were randomly drawn from those entries.  And now, for the moment you have all been waiting…
